Dear english-speaking friends of Nico, this page is made to explain you the reasons of this association and its activities.

It all started with the premature and unexplained departure of Nico, in 2005. The sorrow of all has soon given its way to a constructive generosity. Nuccia and Giovanni (Nico's parents) have immediately redirected this work upon some charitable work such as the periodic delivery of toys at the oncological pediatric division of the Gemelli hospital in Rome.

In the meanwhile, Don Sandro, a catholic missionary currently working in the Republic of Central Africa, was willing to engage in the construction of a kindergarden, after having established the first primary school in the area. In order to do so, he needed a reliable flow of financial aid, in order to first build the structure and then run it. Don Sandro is a longtime friend of Nuccia and Giovanni and he had the chance to discuss his plans with them in early 2006.

Nuccia and Giovanni engaged in the project enthusiastically and several friends have followed suit. The collection of funds have proceeded promisingly, also thanks to some important lump-sum donations. In mid 2007, it became clear that all this set of activities needed a more settled framework. This in order to assure a transparent and accountable governance to friends as well as to generous persons willing to become Nico's friends without having known him before. This is why, in November 2007, the Nico i frutti del chicco ONLUS has been established and registered (here the statute), with the intent of continuing the charitable activities in memory of Nicolò. Especially the building and mintainance of the kindergarden at Safa, in the Republic of Central Africa.
